Sobs racked through the air as the young lady cried into her arms, she was lying in a clearing, her arms folded under her head. There were trees and bushes all around her and animals just looking towards her, blinking. Out of all the animals only, one approached her. It was a silver fox with the most captivating midnight blue eyes. It opened its mouth almost as if to speak to the girl, but the only thing that escaped was silence. The girl looked up from her crying to see the fox. He was beautiful, with his silver fur almost as if he was there to help her, but her life was not that much like a fairy tale. She simply looked at him expecting something to happen but nothing did. The only change was that his presence seemed to calm her. The two stared at each other for a while before the fox slowly approached with his head down, submissively almost.
“Who are you?” She asked, not fully expecting the fox to answer, but he did.
“A familiar. I am here to help. I’ve seen how you live and I do not approve.” He said sitting directly in front of her. She merely blinked, taking the information in.
“ I live fine and a familiar does not belong with someone such as my self.” She answered with her head down.
“That is not true young one. Everyone deserves his or her chance; you are no different. No matter what one says, especially those who do not believe in you.” He answered lifting her head up with his gently.
“Wake up from this dream and live your life. Not your story, your life young one. How you wish to live it.” The fox said disappearing.
“Wait I need your help, I don’t understand.” The girl yelled out,
“You needn’t have to understand, just do what you think, not what every one tells you.” He finished, completely out of sight. The girl sat there and pondered who or what would want to help her. She had known what a familiar was her entire life, but why now, of all times had one finally wanted or needed to appear.
*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*
The girl awoke the next morning to her father as usual. She did not awake when she willed. Her parents or the noise of the city always awakened her. She lived like every other girl in the world except for one little aspect. She was a medium of sorts. She never had feelings of her own. She felt what the world around her felt. If the world around her was in pain, then she was in pain as well. Her story was never happy and to her she never thought it would be. She willed herself out of bed and to the shower. After bathing and dressing for school she left with out a word. To be unnoticed was her specialty because when she was noticed, she was in trouble.
The day at school was the same as always for the young girl. She would go through her classes, and the hallways unnoticed by everyone. She would only talk when called, on and never acted out of line. She had few friends and the ones she did have. She trusted with her life. Her friends go by the name of Amelia a young girl who has known her for many years. Amelia has lived with her through the problems of her everyday life, and consoling her when she needed it. Then there was the young man named Edward who had all but grown up with this young girl since she was the age of one. This young lady goes by the name of Julian, and her story has yet to begin…

Blurry, that’s what Julian woke up in. A blurry world, hazy memories flashing before her eyes, as she awoke from the less then enlightening dream she had just had. Strange how someone who thinks they are so on track, can think themselves lost after just one dream. Getting out of bed to start the morning agenda. Julian was more then able to scream when she tripped over a silver fox after stepping out of bed. Scrambling back on to her bed she stared deathly at the animal.
“Your t-that fox from my dream. How?” She asked amazed as she stood on her bed against the wall, starring in awe.
“I told you, I am here to lead.” He said as he looked at her. His mouthed didn’t move as he spoke. The words seemed to play through her mind as she heard them.
Julian just stared, her eyes seeing through Kyuusaisha as she tired to ignore his existence. She didn’t even take note of the fox in front of her as, while he stood, transformed into an almost regular teenaged boy.
“Julian.” He whispered his voice like a rainstorm against glass, as smooth as silk, while as fluent as water. The girl looked up and stopped dead.
“You’re…human.” She said, her eyes telling the world what her voice could not. “For the time being I suppose. Would you rather I follow you as a fox?” He asked amused.
“You’re beautiful.” She whispered.
In that fact the young lady was correct, he was beautiful. He stood as a prince would. His posture as polite as any royalty, while he stood his height of five feet, eight inches. His hair a gray brown as it swept down his back, landing at his knees. The strands gliding down and around him like silk. His eyes the most beautiful of colors as they changed, like a world wind of gray, blue, black, green, and hazel. When he stood still he looked as if he were a painted portrait of some far away prince. Perhaps in the fairy tales parents would read to their children.
“How are you real? And am I the only one that can see you?” Julian asked, the shock of having a fox, then a dazzling young boy appear in front of her fading a way.
“I am as real as the air you breathe, but as air is invisible to you I am to others.” He said
“O, I suppose that means you’re an angel her to take me away because I’ve died in my sleep.” She answered hopefully. He merely smiled and shook his head,
“No I am not here to take you away, I am here to lead you.” He said once again.
“Riddles are annoying and seemingly so are you.” Julian answered back
“No riddles, just questions in which you find the answers.” He said back
“O.k. we’re getting no where fast. Here’s a question for you. What’s your name?” Julian said walking around her room, getting read for school.
“Kyuusaisha.” He answered
“O.k. Kyuu-sai-sha, what do you want?” She said pulling her shirt over her head, she looked back too see Kyuusaisha looking away.
“Wow you’re modest. Most boys your age would be looking me down like a dog would a piece of meat.” She said as she flung the shirt a cross the room before digging through her dresser to find another.
“I do not have permission and I do not have the right. It is respect I feel towards you, not lust.” He answered. “Lust, respect, or anything really. It’s all fake, you learn that after a while.” Julian sighed as she finally finished buttoning up her pants. “Where are you going?” Kyuusaisha asked, following her out of the room. “I have school you can come if you want, but I rather you come as a fox.” Julian answered stomping down the stairs. “If that is what you request.” He said hitting the last step as a stunning silver fox. Julian looked at him a moment before expressing her thoughts. “You have got to teach me how to do that.” She said amazed “Perhaps later, after this school.” Kyuusaisha said walking towards the front door. “Wow really, you’ll teach me how to do…that!” She exclaimed optimistically. “Perhaps, you’re going to be late.” He said looking back, his tail wagging languidly behind him. “I can’t go yet. I haven’t cleaned up.” She said hesitantly. She walked around the house rearranging things, cleaning dirtied objects, and finally finishing, by that time she was drenched in sweat. “You do realize not only are you late, you look rigid.” Kyuusaisha said as he looked back at her. “I’m not late and I do not look rigid, perhaps messy but not rigid.” Julian said whipping her forehead and pulling on her shoes. Taking one last glance at the house. She left for school.
Julian sighed as the day’s classes ended. She lifted her head off of the table she had been rested against as she stood grabbing her bag, slinging it over her shoulder she began to walk out of the classroom. Beyond ready to go home and rest after the day she had had.
“Julian!” Kyuusaisha yelled as he pushed her out of the way, a shriek ripping through the air as her body followed the momentum on the force, a booming echoing through the classroom as she landed on the ground, Kyuusaisha above her. She gasped as she felt a tangy liquid seep down her arm. She looked up and her eyes widened.
“Kyuu?” She whispered as she saw the boy’s arm. Her attention immediately went to looking around the room as she panicked, her heart racing faster then she had ever remembered.
“Concentrate or...you won’t be able to see them.” Kyuusaisha had forced out through clench teeth.
“What a-are you talking about?” She stuttered as she became even more frantic.
“Concentrate!” He said sharply, Julian flinched at the tone he used but did as she was told. Her body relaxed as her concentration became solid. Julian opened her eyes looking into Kyuusaisha’s pained face as he hovered above her, his arm continuing to bleed.
“Now look.” He said softly, she did. Turning her gaze in the direction he had nodded his head. Her eyes widen as she saw what looked to be two fighters standing there. A man and a woman both clad in clothes that would be fit for royalty, yet they looked to be light and made of silk as the two people stepped forward. Their grace seen through their movements as they continued to walk towards Julian and Kyuusaisha. She stood in front of Kyuusaisha, shaking in fear yet determined to keep him safe.
“Go away!” She yelled, her voice much stronger then her resolve. The two continued to stare at Julian and Kyuusaisha, their stance as solid as a brick as they slowly stalked towards the two. She tried to keep her eyes open, honestly she did, but they closed as her fists clenched. She was so scared. She stumbled back and Kyuusaisha grabbed as she jumped from his touch.
“Shh, it’s alright it’s just me,” he said, Julian nodded. He leaned forward. “Julian I need you to scream, and scream loud. Think of a place with water as you scream. Think of your reflection.” He told her quietly she looked back at him unsure.
“Why do you want me to do that?”
“Julian, please,” He pleaded her she nodded, shaking still. He pushed her towards the two fighters and she screamed in fright completely forgetting what Kyuusaisha had last said. Although she screamed and the fighters froze their stance almost stuck in time as they yelled between each other, nothing compared to the volume Julian was using.
“Think of your reflection!!” Kyuusaisha called as he closed his eyes and slide back to the floor his body soon fading through it. Julian heard the faint call and tried so hard, to figure what he had said, something about a reflection. She could hear someone screaming. Not realizing it was her own voice as she closed her eyes again things moving in slow motion as she saw her self in the window she had been standing in front of.
‘My reflection,’ she though, ‘My reflection in water.’ She closed her eyes and continued to scream after taking a deep breath she imagined the seaside. She had been there once, as a kid. Her grandmother’s house, right on the beach. Although when she blinked again there were no fighters, there wasn’t a classroom; there wasn’t even a city.
She was standing a few meters from the shore. The water scenting the air and she stood amazed. The amazement was short lives however as she soon felt the water as it fell from the sky. She looked up to see dark clouds; so much different from the bright sun she was hiding from before.
It was grey out and the rain was falling softly, like small lines falling to the earth and bending as they made a soft thud sound as they hit. Julian smiled, she hadn’t seen this in a long time, yet her hurt ached, her grandmother had disappeared on a day such like today. It was almost exactly the same except she was older, and this was now. Not the past.
“Julian, watch out!!” Someone yelled, said girl looked back to see a young girl running towards her in the rain. An elderly lady behind her as the two ran towards the water, the older of the two caught up to the youngest because she had stopped, yet the older of the two couldn’t she continued to run until she hit the shoreline and before Julian, and the little girl’s eyes. The woman disappeared, the rain still coming down softly.
Julian felt something warm roll down her face and realized that it wasn’t the rain; it was her own tears. This was her past, and that was her grandmother, she had seen that day the exact same thing she had seen today. Her grandmother just disappeared with out a trace almost as if she had never existed but she had, and many knew that.
Her grandmother was a hero and Julian would never give up hope, or loose faith about anything that included her. She turned her head as she heard two loud pops. She came face to face with the same fighters that had been at her school. She stood in fear. Kyuusaisha wasn’t here, and she didn’t know what to do this time…

Julian continued to stare at the two before her and was met with the same silence as before. A deadening echo except for the waves of the sea besides them, the fighters inching closers to Julian as the seconds passed. Yet as they inched towards her she backed up, scrambling away. There was no way they were getting near her.
She lost her balance and almost fell, her hands grabbing a hold of sand before she pushed off the ground to get away looking back she threw the sand at the faces of the two figures behind her. Grunts coming as the two rubbed at their eyes. She didn’t look twice as she took off in the opposite direction of them again.
Her heart pounding in her chest, as her feet pounded against the sand harshly, if she was anywhere else maybe it would have been easier to get away. Although she was on a beach and the sand was wearing her down, even if the sand did slow them down, they could still follow her footprints. Julian kicked off her shoes running side ways until the water would wash her tracks away. She looked down as she ran gasping for breath as she looked back, she sighed; the two figures were gone, but then her mind kicked in and she looked forward. Panic set in when they appeared in front of her, their jaws set in anger, their eyes blood shot from the sand she had threw in them.
“You impudent little girl, you shall pay…” the voice was cold and heavy as the words were whispered and the water the washed against Julian’s ankles felt even colder then ice as she inched backwards.
“No…” She whispered, thinking; everywhere she had went so far they had followed. She turned toward the water and ran, when it became to deep for her to run in she dove headfirst swimming away from them. The farther she went the safer she felt. She wanted to get lost in the waves. The two figures in black to one another before yelling at one another in a language Julian didn’t know and following her. Before long the shore disappeared and it was water to all sides with Julian and the two figures.
Julian hovered in the water her breathing rapid again as she looked down at her reflection in the water, a deformed her looking up at her. She screamed when someone grabbed her shoulder.
“Let me go, “She closed her eyes, the last thing on her mind was her reflection, “I said let me go!!” she screamed as loud as she could, and before she knew it she wasn’t in water anymore, she was in someone’s arms, and hollowly she heard voices ordering commands. She tried to shake her head, trying to get the water out of her ears and felt someone run a hand through her hair, looking up to see a smiling face she froze.
“Grandma?” Julian asked, her eyes wide.

The old woman looked at her for but a moment with the most stern look Julian had ever seen in those eyes before turning to the voices in the room and ordering them to take the figures else where.
“To the dungeons. I want answers from them, this is unexpected, years before it’s time even!” she said and when silence filled the room, Julian still in shock, the woman turned back to her.
“Young Julian?” she said, lifting the girl by her chin, Julian followed the movement and looked into her grandmother’s pale purple eyes, the most oddest of eyes she had ever seen on a person. Her grandmother gave her a soft smile that reached her eyes and Julian automatically smiled back from her heart.
That simple notion telling her that this was her grandma even though she looked exactly the way she remembered her, except for the intricate clothes she was wearing.
“W-where am I?” Julian asked, finally coming out of her daze when her grandma called her. She grabbed onto the clothes her grandma was wearing and clung on almost as if her life depended on it, her eyes stung, and her heart was thumping like it had earlier.
Her grandma just sighed and continued to smile softly wrapping her arms around her softly. A small snap was heard and Julian turned to see Kyuusaisha, her eyes widening as he dropped to his knee, his head bowed, "Lady Roselyn," he greeted, his hair falling over his shoulder as his wounds bleed, Julian continued to stare in shock.
"Sir Kyuusaisha, it is nice to see you return alive, and with my granddaughter no less." She said he continued to stare at the floor, as if he was ashamed. She continued to hold on to Julian softly, "I expect to see you in the High Quarters once I get my granddaughter settled," she said coolly, Kyuusaisha nodded.
“Yes my Lady.” He answered as he backed up; turning and walking away. Julian continued to stare before turning back to her grandmother.
“I guess I have some explaining to do my young one,” she said rubbing her face against Julian’s affectionately, the girl giggled as she shook her head away from the act, just like she did when she was a kid. Her grand mother beamed, she hasn’t changed an ounce, she thought.
Roselyn dropped her arms from around her granddaughter and slid her hand to grab Julian’s, her same soft smile on her lips, as she pulled the girl softly to walk with her.
“Do you know where you are Julian?” She asked, the girl shook her head ‘no’ and Roselyn continued to walk forward as if the answer didn’t matter to her. “You’re in the world of Reflexion,” she said, her voice not changing in the least, Julian turned to look at her grandma, her features quizzical as she stared at the elder woman, after what had happened earlier, she couldn’t just throw this off as a dream, but then this couldn’t possibly be reality, could it?
“Like a mirror? Reflexions like the same, which means there’s another you in my world?” Julian said unsurely. Her grandmother laughed merrily at her granddaughter’s philosophy and almost truth.
“No my young one. A world of mirrors, as in the world inside your own, like you have your heart. Your world has this, this plane of existence where your simple scream turns people to ash.” Julian’s stomach seemed to turn at the words even though her grandmother seemed to be the proudest woman in the room.
“Is that why you talk so soft?”
“No my child, I’ve long since passed my power onto someone else. I no longer harm those who wish to harm those who have not sinned.” Her grandmother answered.
“Then why do you talk so soft?”
“Because I do not need to raise my voice to get the respect I demand at all times.” Roselyn answered simply, Julian’s face screwed up but she dropped it as her grandma began to walk, bringing her with her.
“Does that mean we’re in the middle of the Earth?” Julian asked, a question coming to her as she continued to comprehend her grandmother’s tellings.
“No child. We are simply here, like the air you breathe they cannot find us because they are not one of us. You are Royal blood, in a fight many centuries old,” she sighed, “I told your mother not to take you to the wretched place.” Her grandmother turned to her, stopping for a moment as they reached a corridor. With both of her hands in her own she looked straight into Julian’s eyes.
“Now, you shall stay in this room while I take care of Kyuusaisha. Please Julian, refrain from roaming around the castle; I don’t want you to get lost. Scarcely anyone knows you’re here yet. I want a formal introduction, not you being almost eaten alive because you couldn’t stop being a curious cat.” She said kissing her granddaughter on the forehead before leaving her out side the door and walking the rest of the corridor and disappearing.
